Leukemia Symptoms:
In leukemia, the rate at which the symptoms develop would depend on the type of leukemia that the individual is affected with. In acute leukemia the symptoms can be severe and can develop quite fast whereas in chronic leukemia, the symptoms usually take a while to develop. Leukemia can affect various parts of the body such as the kidneys, testicles, liver, heart, lungs, digestive tract and even the eyes and brain. When leukemia affects the brain, symptoms would include vomiting, headache, or seizures. Leukemia symptoms would also depend upon the location of these malignant cells and the quantity in which they are present. Leukemia can be of four types acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute myelogenous leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia and chronic myelogenous leukemia.
Some of the most common symptoms of leukemia are:
1. Fever and night sweats
2. Swelling of the lymph nodes that may or may not cause pain.
3. Constant feeling of fatigue and tiredness.
4. Pain in the bones or joints
5. The spleen and liver may also become enlarged causing some discomfort.
6. Getting out of breath easily such as while climbing a staircase.
7. Easy bruising and bleeding such as bleeding of the gums.
8. Sudden loss of weight with loss of appetite as well.
9. Leukemia can also impair the immune systems normal function causing oral sores, infection of the tonsils and diarrhoea.
